if this isn't nice...

Ben has challenged me to get back to the original purpose of my blog, and to write more positive, upbeat posts. So that means no writing about my dad for a while, I guess, because there sure isn't anything upbeat to report there. Anyway.

Well, it's not February anymore. And if that isn't nice, I don't know what is. 'Nuff said.

I seem to have worked past my knitter's block. In fact, I am designing a pattern of my own for the first time, and I am really excited about it. I have made so many different pairs of fingerless mitts now that I absolutely understand how they are constructed, so it is just a matter of super-imposing a stitch pattern over that construction. (If you're a knitter, that makes sense to you. If not, you'll have to trust me.)

I am continuing to sell my work. I can pretty much sell it as fast as I can knit it up, in fact. And if I was willing to make seven pairs of identical mitts (which I am not) I could probably sell all of those, as well.

Ben and I have been doing some painting, and the living room and kitchen are both sporting fresh coats of paint. The living room looks fantastic, and only needs us to finally hang some artwork above the couch. (I'm looking at you, Ben.)

The Olympics are over, and so I don't have to worry about watching ice dancing anymore for four years. I will miss Apolo Ohno, though.

Um, did I mention it's not February anymore?

You accepted my challenge! And a very nice post it is, because you have a lot of good things going on.

About your dad, I wonder if we could get him to play nice over there by appealing to his wallet. Like, you're not getting your money's worth if you don't use the library or attend some meetings or activities. Actually I think he's adjusting fairly well. His attitude will get a boost with the arrival of spring and the ability to get outside more.

I see your knitting entering a different phase lately. While you are still a brave, almost fearless knitter, I see you becoming a really confident knitter.

Ah, the artwork for the main living room wall. I admit I am struggling with that. I want to pick out two good examples of my photography to enlarge & frame, and until that's done, the wall remains bare. I want architectural subjects, maybe black & white. This weekend for sure.

We 9-5'ers need your posts to inspire us and brighten our days. Welcome back to looking at the bright side, and thank you!

yay for the bright and cheery posts! this does more match the original purpose of the blog, and goodness knows we need it this time of year! of course, it's probably harder for you to find nice things to write about, too...

hooray for working with your own knitting patterns! your first result is a good one, too--looking forward to seeing the write-up on that!

ha.

well that's very cool that you can sell your knitting. Wow. Fingerless gloves look rather detailed to make, but I suppose once you make one, the others follow easier.

I sew, so I can relate. I've knitted and crocheted some but they never fully caught on. Besides, you only have so much time in the day to dedicate to a very focused, time-consuming hobby. Not that I'm complaining.

I can relate, though, about how much energy it can take to post positive things. You really have to sit and think about it, which isn't bad.

Good luck with your own design! How amazing?!

It's kind of funny - ironic, I guess - that as soon as I design my fingerless mitt pattern, the weather warms up. Not that I'm complaining about warmer weather!
