I worked out 25 days for the month, and took six days off. I had hoped to only take one day a week off, but I needed a couple extra.
Ben and I had beef for dinner three times throughout the month, which exceeds our goal of not eating beef more than once a week. We had a vegetarian dinner five times, which meets our goal of eating vegetarian at least once a week.
I took Rufus for two 20-minute walks a day every day unless inclement weather prohibited it. I think throughout the month I may have missed three or four walks, and Julie took him on his evening walks some of the days that she was home.
And although I did not meet my goal of losing 10 pounds for the month, I did lose 9 pounds, and I am pretty darn pleased about that!

Great job, Anne! Interesting food statistics - I think I've had beef twice, and I know I've had at least 15 vegetarian meals. I've neglected yoga horribly, but at least I've managed to walk and run a lot. I could do better, though. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Thanks, Anna. Of all the many times I have started down this path of a "healthy new lifestyle", I don't ever remember feeling this strong and positive about it. Maybe this time it will finally take.
congrats, mom! sounds like you're doing well. and eating pretty tasty food, too, if the miso soup is any example! that's quite an exercising record you're adding up--wish i could!
Thanks, Jules. Don't forget, you have quite a bit more going on in your life than I do right now. It really takes a lot of time and effort, believe me.
Wow Anne, that's quite the accomplishment! You should be so proud of your 9 pounds gone! That's like a whole wiener dog :)
I'm going to make a suggestion* and you can take it or leave it, but I thought it better to mention it than to not:
Is 10 pounds lost in a month a realistically achievable goal? Remember, doctors say that healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds lost in a week, so you might be better putting your goal at 5-8 pounds lost in a month and adjusting your diet / calories up to accommodate. That way, you're giving yourself a good healthy range without doing yourself any physical harm in the process. With a history of heart disease, this is especially important.
*Disclaimer: I may have a huge ass, but I'm incredibly knowledgable about nutrition and weight loss, having been a student of it for around 22-23 years. I'm just not very good at applying it in conjunction with my other issues with food. So in this case, do as I say, not as I do :)
Thanks, Kristy. You are not the first person to remind me that I can't lose the weight faster than I gained it. (You are, however, the first person to tell me that I have lost the equivalent of one wiener dog!)
I know you are right. And I know 10 pounds isn't really a realistic goal month by month. I have been down this path before, and I know it gets harder. I truly am delighted to have lost 9 pounds, and would have been pretty happy with 8, as well. Any less than that... Well, we'll see.
Your concern is much appreciated, btw.

Seriously, Kristy, you make such a great point here. It drives me nuts when people assume that complete strangers who happen to be more or less overweight don't have a clue about nutrition. Who knows more - someone who has always struggled with their weight, read every bit of information about every diet imaginable, and who has been exposed to "well-meaning" advice from everyone around them... or someone who has a raging metabolism and hardly knows what 'calorie' means?
